Opening thoughts:
I enjoyed the first book in the series so much that I definitely had to pick up the next book the following month. I’m curious how this one would turn out, as the last book left off on such a big cliffhanger.
My notes:

- The two Jedi got into their vectors and started to fight off the invading Nihil

Chapter 33
- Ty Yorrick managed to escape her cell during the chaos

Chapter 39
- Bell reconnected to the Force and had an epiphany — “we are not alone” — that helped him draw strength from the Force to save the people in danger

Chapter 44

Chapter 45
- Elzar gave Ty back her lightsaber and asked for her help so he could save people and make amends — but she refused and decided it wasn’t her fight

Chapter 53
- Elzar came right on time to help Stellan save the chancellor from the Nihil woman
Chapter 54
- Indeera was the last one standing in the battle in the skies against an entire enemy fleet — she was about to put her theory to the test that even one Jedi could turn the tides of a battle

Chapter 57

Chapter 72
- Bell used the Force to catch Loden before he hit the ground, and they were finally reunited
Chapter 74
- Ro unleashed an ancient and dangerous artifact called the Leveler
Chapter 76
- The Leveler attacked Bell and Loden, petrifying Loden — and Elzar also experienced another traumatic vision of the future from the Force
Closing thoughts:
A fantastic continuation of the last book. Lots of character development, drama, and plot twists that I really enjoyed. And again, I really enjoy that this isn’t simply light vs. dark side of the Force, but rather the Republic (backed by the Jedi) against an evil marauder terrorist group, which is refreshing. It’s also very interesting to see how politics come into play, and the parties that act somewhere in between pure light and pure dark.
Nutshell:
The Rising Storm delivers a breathtaking Republic Fair attack sequence and some of the best Jedi character work in Star Wars literature, juggling multiple compelling storylines — Bell’s grief, Elzar’s dark visions, and Stellan’s resolve — while Marchion Ro cements himself as one of the franchise’s most menacing villains. A satisfying and emotionally charged continuation of the High Republic era
