Fight and Flight by Scott Meyer

Synopsis:

“Martin and his friends discovered that their world is computer generated and that by altering the code, they could alter reality. They traveled back in time to Medieval England to live as wizards. Almost everything they’ve done since then has, in one way or another, blown up in their faces.

So of course they decide to make dragons. It does not go well.

As the wizards struggle to control their creations and protect innocent citizens, they try new things (most of which they don’t enjoy), meet new people (most of who are angry at them), and fight epic battles (most of which they lose).

But their biggest challenge may be a young girl who knows that the wizards created the dragons and is determined to make them pay. On her side she has powerful allies, a magical artifact, and a faithful if not particularly helpful dog.

Fight and Flight is a rollicking tale of bravery, wonder, love, revenge, greed, discovery, deception, and animal husbandry.” -Audible

Opening thoughts:

This is the fourth book from this series, and I feel like I know what to expect by now. I’ve enjoyed the series thus far so I was happy to pick up this installment and follow the next adventure of the wizards.

Chapter 2

  • They had another battle with Jeff’s dragons and had a lot of critiques for him. Jeff explained how he had the hardest job but agreed to continue working on the problems

Chapter 4

Closing thoughts:

Another good installment of the Magic 2.0 series. I did enjoy how this story split the characters up into smaller groups so that each character had more time to shine and have more individual development. For example, in Book 3, the characters were split into two larger groups of four people, which didn’t allow for as much showcasing of each person. Not to mention Jeff being completely wiped out for most of the story.

Overall, a solid continuation of the story, and in my opinion slightly better than Book 3. I would recommend this to any readers who are already a fan of the series. However, if you haven’t read the first three, I’d recommend going back and reading them sequentially.

Nutshell:

In this fourth installment of Magic 2.0, the wizards end up creating their own dragon problem which they have to work together to solve.
